Part 2 Knowledge

Knowledge is the second major part of creating success. Without knowledge it is impossible to take massive and effective action to create success.

It doesn’t matter what you are trying to succeed at;

Personal Development, Weight Loss, Business, Leadership, Friendship, etc.

These success skills will cross over in some manner. Most of this training will focus on success in business (network marketing) because most people reading this are looking to succeed in this area. Just keep in mind as you read these skills are universal.

The longer I’m involved with teaching people how to succeed in a home based business the more I am amazed with how out of touch with reality most people have become.

Now I don’t blame them, I blame all of these get rich quick jiggy schemes, with unrealistic promises of overnight riches on autopilot. If this was true and was possible don’t you think everyone would not only know about it but most would be doing it already?

They doesn’t exists trust me, I would have found it by now. I am presented 5 to 10 new businesses a week. And 19.9 of them are gone in 6 months to a year.

So the very first thing you must realize is creating a successful business takes time. Gaining the proper knowledge takes time. Implementing what you have learned properly takes time. This is a fact of life not business or network marketing in general.

Whatever kind of job you hold now or business you own, did you have the knowledge and skills you have today when you first started? Naturally the answer is no. It took you time to learn and develop those skills, and become better at what you do.

Network marketing is no different. You can’t just hop in and flip a switch and be successful. This would be the equivalent of watching an episode or ER, then hoping in your car driving down to the local hospital and performing surgery on someone. It’s just not realistic.

But you can earn while you learn. Unlike becoming a doctor you don’t need to invest 100k plus and 10 years of your life before you can return dime one. In network marketing you are compensated on an ongoing basis while you learn the necessary skills to change lives and create income and time freedom doctors could only dream about. You can also do all of this part time, around the family, around your current job and life.

I apologize for getting long winded, but I wanted to make sure everyone understands how and why to have realistic expectations of what I am about to teach.

On with the training,

In order to use knowledge to find success there are two keys.

  • Key 1: Having or obtaining the knowledge
  • Key 2: Having a road map to put this knowledge to work for you.

We’ll start with Obtaining the knowledge.

There are also two different ways to gain knowledge.

  • Book knowledge
  • Knowledge obtained from experience.

Book Knowledge:

This is knowledge you can learn from some kind of training, book or video.

IE: Third party information which is being transferred to you. It’s where everyone needs to start; this also needs to become a part of our daily routine, day after day, year after year.

I’m not sure where this quote came from or who said it first. I’ve heard it many times, from many different people and it has had a great Impact on how I live my life.

“In life we are either growing or we are dying”

The action doesn’t matter, whether we are talking about knowledge, faith, strength, belief, stamina, etc.

If a runner is going to train for a marathon, does he sit on the couch and eat doughnuts? Of course not, he runs each and every day becoming a stronger, better and faster runner with more stamina. Just a day or two after he stops training he begins to become weaker, slower and loses some of the stamina he has just built up.

The same holds true for anything, if you attend church regularly your faith becomes stronger, miss a few weeks and your faith becomes weaker. Tennis players prepare for tournaments with intense practice and workouts. If we need to pass a major test we study for days before the test. If we took the test the next day results would be good, next year results would be horrible.

I think you can get my point here. We are either getting better at what we do or we are getting worse at what we do. Ongoing training assures we are getting better.

I am telling you this to stress the importance of ongoing education and growth. Daily education needs to a part of your success map. Here are a few tips on how to fit it in.

Listen while you are driving. My car does not go down the road without some form of training, educational, or personal development CD/MP3 playing. I turned my car into a college on wheels. I likely have obtained the equivalent knowledge to a master’s degree from simply changing what I listen to in my car as I drive down the road. This was otherwise wasted time.

Before bed: Get in 30 minutes every night before bed. This is time normally wasted on meaningless television anyhow. Since that TV is going to make you weaker not stronger it’s ok to replace that wasted time with something meaningful. Would it be worth it to replace TV with something else if you were guaranteed and additional 10 to 20k a year? (More on this in Part 3). One thing I can guarantee watching that TV night after night is never going to create you that additional income.

So get the knowledge you need to have the success you desire. If you don’t know what knowledge you need ask someone who has already obtained the level of success you want.

It’s simple; none of this is rocket science.

Successful people are more successful than you for one reason and one reason only.
They were willing to do what took to become successful and you were not.

One more time since these are the most important words on this paper.

Successful people are more successful than you for one reason and one reason only.
They were willing to do what took to become successful and you were not.

I’m not going to get into detail on this now maybe I will blog on this later. But, every successful person has also overcome tremendous failure before they became successful. Failure is needed to create success. This leads me right into the next form of knowledge.

Real world knowledge:

This is knowledge gained from experience. It will have a much bigger impact on your success than book knowledge. Please don’t mistake what I am saying here. Book knowledge is a required form of ongoing education, you need to know what you should be doing before you can do it. Real world knowledge is a result of putting what you learned in book knowledge to work for you and seeing the result.

Just because you listened to an audio or read this blog post, that does not mean you know this information as well as the author. It only means you have a basis to beginning learning the information completely. Only through the act of doing and seeing the result will you truly learn the information.

This is the best form of education because you will see real world results and have the ability to interpret those results. Once again this is not rocket science it exists in every form of education.

Anyone who has a college degree can attest to book knowledge vs real world experience. Just because you passed all the classes that does not mean you have the knowledge to be the best at what you learned. It’s just a base to get you going. Most people with college degrees will tell you when they actually started working in their field 80% of the information they learned to get their degree was useless for the job they secured.

In our industry that number is much better because we train based on real world experiences not information. However, each and every person is carrying their own baggage, X amount of years of life lessons, failures, successes that will have an impact on how the presented information is absorbed and interpreted. This is why the act of doing is necessary to really lean what you are being taught. Make sense?

Finally we are to the last part of this training.

Roadmap to success.

Ok so now you have a goal, massive desire and knowledge! Now What?

To answer this lets put logic to use. If your goal was as simple as to drive to Florida from Texas what would you do first? Get a map right?

This is why 90% fail to reach their goals! They have no clue how to get what they want.

You can take the most intelligent person on the planet drop him off in a city where he has never been and tell him to get to 123 My Street, there is no way he will be able to do this without direction or a map. The house could be just one block away! And he will never find it efficiently or may never find it at all.

Take this same scenario with a man of average intelligence and give him a road map or GPS and he will be there in seconds. As you can see from this example the persons intelligence has nothing to do with his success. Success was found because he had the proper, tool, knowledge, directions, map, call it what you will. You not only need to know where you are going you need to know how to get there.

Now every business is different there is no complete universal map or direction to success in network marketing. But there are many aspects of success in network marketing which are universal.

  • Consistency
  • Habits
  • Dedication
  • Drive
  • Desire
  • Conviction
  • Excitement
  • Work Ethic.

As you look at each one of these words you should quickly realize these key elements are needed for success in anything. I’m not going to break down each and every one of these right now, I will go into detail on some of them in the next training.

What is important to know is that no matter what business you are involved with they should have a map or system in place which if you follow it you will have success. Ask the successful people in your upline, for this information. If they don’t have this, you need to find a new company or develop the map yourself. I would suggest finding a different company, as duplication is the key to success. If you are going to be the one creating this map you have to first figure out how to succeed. It’s much easier to plug into a proven system that works than to create a new system from scratch.

Most people who start a network marketing business try to reinvent the wheel, they try to redesign everything to fit into what they want, desire or like. They bring years of baggage with them and a large ego which will only hurt their success in network marketing.

Networking is not SALES. It’s networking. In reality, the products your company sells are irrelevant; we are in the people business. Networking is all about helping others, not pushing product.

In our world you have to get out of your own way and learn to adapt you to fit into this industry.
You will never be able to adapt the industry to fit around you.

How to make 2012 a year of action and success!http://robertfranta.com/training/how-to-make-2012-a-year-of-action-and-success http://robertfranta.com/training/how-to-make-2012-a-year-of-action-and-success#comments Sun, 01 Jan 2012 17:25:41 +0000 Rob http://robertfranta.com/?p=1466

Here is what I know about you without knowing you.

“You currently do not have all the skills and/or tools needed to obtain the level of success you desire or you would already have that level of success.”

It doesn’t matter what kind of success you’re looking for; business, personal, family, whatever.

Let me repeat this because it’s important.

“You currently do not have all the skills and/or tools needed to obtain the level of success you desire or you would already have that level of success.”

The keyword is “ALL“!

You may have the knowledge but you are lacking desire, you may have desire but are lacking mindset or proper habits. You may have no knowledge but have good habits and mindset, you may have all the skills but have not given yourself enough time!

In order to reach your desired level of success you need it all. You need the total package.

Desire, knowledge, habits, mindset, work ethic and time! The good news is some of these will automatically create the other if you have a proper foundation.

The bad news is most people have no foundation or the wrong foundation.

We have all fell prey to procrastination time and time again. We all have ideas and plans to better our lives, our families, our overall impact on society, ETC. We have the best intentions on getting these things done. Some even go out and learn the necessary skills to get it done. But then something happens and we lose focus.

Why is this? …….It’s one thing and one thing only!

LACK OF PROPER DESIRE!

  • Coming up with the plan is easy. (The What)
  • Gaining the knowledge is a little harder. (The How To)
  • Putting the knowledge into play to create the end result is excruciating! (The Action)

If the “What” is created properly (creating proper desire) the “How To” And the “Action” become easy.

I was going to try and cover this all in one post, but as I began writing I quickly realized there is way too much to cover in one post. So I am going to break this down into 3 parts. I will cover part one today and part two and three later in the week.

First let me list out the three parts we will be covering.

  1. Desire: You will never have solid action without solid Desire!
  2. Knowledge: You will never have solid action without Knowledge!
  3. Overcoming Pitfalls: They are everywhere; you need to know how to get past them!

Let’s jump right into Desire.

The only way to create proper desire is through proper goal setting. I teach goal setting much different than most people. We hear it over and over again you need to have goals, write them down, and read them daily, bla bla bla. While I agree with that 100%, I think it is taught in such a way that leaves out the obvious and does not impose the amount of value it needs and deserves.

Goal setting in reality is: Desire Building.

Let me explain, if your goals do not create adequate desire you will never reach them.

I’ll repeat that one also because it is probably the most important words you will read in this post.

“If your goals do not create adequate desire you will never reach them!”

Your goals need to be a vision into your future. You should not need to read them every day because you should be thinking of them every minute of every day. They need to be your reason for waking every morning, your vision that drives your daily routine. If they don’t have this big of an impact on you then you need to clarify them or you need some bigger goals. If you don’t create a big enough vision, you will not have enough desire, to get you past all the obstacles, which are constantly preventing you from reaching these goals and ultimately your success.

In order to create the proper amount of desire you need have a very clear picture of the end result (your goal). You need to be as detailed as possible. Paint yourself a mental picture of yourself obtaining this goal. How is your life different now that you have achieved it? What has this done for you, your family, ETC? Write this down on paper, (do not use a word processor). Writing it down on paper will help to place this into your subconscious. This is where we need to get it.

When writing them speak in the present tense as if you have already achieved these goals.

Which do you think will create more desire?

  • Option 1 (simple goal list)

Make $200k a year, Lose 50 lbs, Have a better family life.
  • Option 2 (detailed present tense results list)

I am successful and healthy network marketer, I make $xxxx per month. I have helped xxx people change their lives. This also has changed my life. I now have time freedom which allows me to spend more time with my family, vacation more, and make a difference by giving back to my local church and community. I am no longer stressed out about money. I live a happy purposeful life. I feel good about myself and my accomplishments. I have retired my parents and in-laws so they never have to work again. By losing 40 lbs I now feel better and more relaxed. I am no longer worried about my health. I can run around and play with my children and truly enjoy life. I sleep better and feel better about myself. I can’t wait for the alarm clock to go off so I can attack the day and make more great things happen.

Option 1 is simply meaningless words on paper.

Option 2 creates “Desire”!

In order to induce unconscious action you need to create unconscious desire which you will live with every minute of every day. So if you are having problems taking action and making the right decisions you are simply lacking proper desire. This is what they are talking about when they say “If the why is big enough the “How To” is simple.”

Create the proper desire and the action will happen almost automatically. If it’s not happening you need more desire. You have to really want it before your body and brain will take the necessary actions to get it.

Here is something most people don’t think about. Almost every decision you make will take you closer to or move you further away from your goal. If you are not unconsciously making the proper decisions to take you closer to your goal, you will need to analyze every decision you make until it becomes natural for you to make the correct decision to move you forward.

So before you make a decision question yourself:

Is this is going to help me reach my goal or move me further from my goal?

Once you know the answer to this question it very simple to make the proper decision. If your desire to reach the goal is big enough.

I wrote a post on this last year called. The law of “What do you want more” this goes into detail of instant gratification of one decision vs moving closer to your goals by making the other choice. I suggest you check it out!

That’s it for desire, please post your comments, thoughts and questions below so we can continue discussion.

Retirement Plan A – Work Longer – LOLhttp://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/retirement-plan-a-work-longer-lol http://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/retirement-plan-a-work-longer-lol#comments Tue, 23 Aug 2011 12:34:14 +0000 Rob http://robertfranta.com/?p=1441

Are kidding me!

I saw this headline on MSN Money the other day. The article was talking about a survey given to US citizens about retirement. It went on to say.

  • 40% of those surveyed said they intend to work longer and retire later as a result of the recession.
  • 39% plan on retiring after the age of 70 or not at all. (Really! This is staggering!).
  • 54% plan on working even after they retire because of financial necessity.
  • 70% said even if they worked full time until age 65 they would not have enough money to retire.
    • 60% of these people make over 100k a year.

The bottom line is, we as a society are getting further away from retirement.

How do you compare to these stats?
Are you going to be working well into your 70′s?
Is your life going where you expected it to go?

Are you really going to be satisfied working where you are now for the rest of your life?
Collecting a 3% or 4% raise each year?
If you do this, will you be able to retire at 65 or will you be broke?

Are you living the life you have always dreamed about?

If you are, good for you, I would like to congratulate you.
But please keep reading, because you are not out of the water yet!

If you’re not, it’s seriously time you to look for a plan B.

Plan B does not mean stop what you are doing and do something new.
Plan B means find something extra to supplement your income working a few hours a week.
…..And No! Buying a lottery ticket every week is not a Plan B.

Here is something very important to remember.
” If you keep doing the same things you have always done
you will continue to get what you have always gotten.”

So if you don’t like your life as it is now or where it will be at retirement the only way to fix this is to do something different.

Instead of using every minute of free time on Facebook playing Farmville, Watching TV, ETC
Find something productive to do with that time, that will actually make a difference in your life.
Get your own Plan B.

Who really cares:

  • How many cows you have in Farmville?
  • Who wins So You Think You Can Dance?
  • What everyone else is doing?
  • What happened on CSI Miami

Does any of this stuff make your life better in any way?

This is a wake-up call for everyone, many times in life we are not uncomfortable enough to make any changes.
We as humans have a strong need to feel comfortable, it’s easy to overlook the obvious just so we don’t have to deal with it.
It’s easy to keep doing the same things over and over, because changing the routine is uncomfortable.

Guess what? This change is needed now more than ever!

More than 90% of us are not happy with our  financial situation.
Everyone would like more time and money to enjoy a better quality of life.

Yet most of us will sit back even after reading this and do absolutely nothing about it.

I have news for you, none of us are getting any younger, and unless you have some rich uncle you don’t know about.
The life you create for yourself is the only one you will get.

Life is too short to settle.

Are you ready for more bad news?

Your job and your retirement are not safe. PERIOD!
I don’t care who you work for or what you do, you are at their mercy.
You never know what may come up which will causes your job and retirement to disappear.
This just happened to millions of people over the last 2 years.

We all need a Plan B

What works for me may not work for you and that’s ok.
But I urge you to take this message seriously and find a Plan B that is right for you.

If you would like to learn more about my plan B and see if it is right for you I encourage you to watch this 6 minute video.

What is a Pyramid Scheme – MLM – FAQhttp://robertfranta.com/network-marketing/faqs/what-is-a-pyramid-scheme-mlm-faq http://robertfranta.com/network-marketing/faqs/what-is-a-pyramid-scheme-mlm-faq#comments Wed, 09 Feb 2011 20:13:51 +0000 Rob http://robertfranta.com/?p=1414

I love this question I get this all the time. Even though every time I combat this perfectly most people still don’t get it. I think they are looking for an excuse not to join a Network Marketing company rather than a reason to join one.

Some people will try to tell you if there is a viable product being sold then the opportunity is not a Pyramid schemes. This is not 100% accurate.

The SEC’s answer is here: http://www.sec.gov/answers/pyramid.htm

According to the SEC you have a pyramid, if you are paid for recruiting people into the business. Unfortunately it is not that simple.  Some companies will disguise these recruitment payout’s in the form of commissions on the sales of products and or services with little or no value. IE to join XYZ travel business you have to buy a travel membership for $2,999. The company will say the commission is being paid on the sale of the membership and your rep position is free. There is fine line here and many factors that can and will affect how the SEC, the FTC and the courts will view these companies. The important thing to realize is just because your company has a product, that does not mean it’s legal.

Here are some questions they may use to determine if your company is a Pyramid Scheme.

  1. Are they selling products or services that have real world value?
  2. Can these products or services be sold in the real world without the business?
  3. Are the products or services being sold at a realistic cost?
  4. Does the company have a certain percentage of customers who are not business partners?

This just touches the surface as to some of the factors they will use to determine if a business model is legal.

Use third party validation when doing research on your company.

Personally I would only consider companies that meet the following standards.

  1. The network marketing arm of the business has been in business at least 5 years. I don’t care how old the service provider or the product is. How old and how established is the business opportunity?
  2. They are a member in good standing with the Direct Selling Association (DSA). The DSA oversees all direct selling companies to make sure they operate inside the law.
  3. They have at least an A rating with the BBB. This will prove to you right away if a company has a vision for the future. I am not concerned with the number of complaints, I am concerned with how those complaints were handled.
  4. They have products and/or services that will stand alone and are marketable with out selling the business.
  5. They have a legal advisory board and a strong legal team on retainer or on staff. In this industry lawsuits are unavoidable. Even reputable companies that have been in business for many years fall victim to lawsuits. You want to make sure when your company has to defend itself, that they have measures in place to assure victory.

Life is too short to be wasting time in poor companies, take your time and do your research. There are a lot of good companies out there, but are are way more bad ones. Use your gut and use your instincts.Whatever you do don’t take someone else s opinion of the industry as fact. Take the time to find out for yourself.

The key to success in this industry is to find a good company and stick with it.

8 Categories of MLM distributors! Which one are you?http://robertfranta.com/training/8-categories-of-mlm-distributors-which-one-are-you http://robertfranta.com/training/8-categories-of-mlm-distributors-which-one-are-you#comments Sun, 05 Dec 2010 18:49:05 +0000 Rob http://robertfranta.com/?p=1380

I came across this list created by Ramin Mesgarlou and I found it to have extreme value.

I am actually going to ask each and every member of of my team to read this list and tell me what number they are and why.

There is so much value in truly seeing yourself exactly how you are.

I am very dedicated to my business and yet the first time I read this list I was second guessing my number. I consider myself between a 7 and an 8 because I put in well over 25 hours a week into my network marketing business and I am very focused but why did I find myself with 1 or 2 qualities under number 5?

YIKES…….

I encourage you to read this post in it’s entirety and evaluate your exact qualities and dedication to your business. Be honest with yourself……

The fist step to recovery is to admit there is a problem.

Here they are!

  1. The Lotto Group

These are the members that come to business presentations and get seduced by the hype, buy an enrollment package and then disappear. Some times these people get in based on the promises of their sponsors, “sign up, and I will build it for you”.

These investors didn’t buy a business and pursue the MLM profession; they bought a home business lottery to see if their numbers would come up.

If this is you, you are NOT in the MLM profession and you will not succeed so enjoy your products.
  2. Weekend Wonder Group

This group is an interesting one. These people usually come to their first meeting in designer suits, looking and speaking confidently. They see this profession as “easy” and they don’t feel any need to educate themselves or attend any training.

They come in fast, bringing in a whole bunch of people, sometimes even generating a few large cheques right away.

A few weeks to a few months later when they don’t see the duplication they quit or simply move to another company and leave behind many casualties.

This group comes into the industry with the attitude that they are going to make a million even if it takes them all weekend. If this is you, you are NOT in the MLM profession and you will not succeed so enjoy your products.
  3. Slave Driver Group

This group is rare but they do exist. These individuals are the investors who come in and expect the upline to build an entire business for them.

This group is not satisfied with just help and support they receive and expect the upline to keep creating welfare cheques for them.

These people are not shy to ask their uplines to place “one or two hot shots” in their legs. If this is you, you are NOT in the MLM profession and you will not succeed so enjoy your products.
  4. Social Group

The social group generally are nice, friendly people and they comprise a large percentage of the MLM workforce. Their primary reason for being involved in MLM is not money.

They love making friends first; making money is secondary. They are also extremely helpful in event planning and coordination and they often volunteer their time to sit at the registration table and other tasks.

They are at every meeting and training but never bring any prospects with them.

If this is you, you are an important part of any team and are highly liked and respected however you will not reach financial significance, so enjoy your new found friends & your products.
  5. Some Time Group

This group is the largest segment of the MLM work force. They call themselves PART TIME but they are NOT. There is a distinct difference between PART TIMER and SOME TIMER.

SOME TIMERS allow their business venture to take a back seat to all their other competing commitments.

They simply conduct their business when they can and as long as they can depend all of their other life commitments. They don’t have a plan of Action or precise business plan, nor are they building their business on a consistent basis.

They simply do it when convenient or when the opportunity presents itself. “You cannot socialize your MLM business” Ramin Mesgarlou

If your Promise is for your home business to free you up from your JOB, financial stress or traditional business, then you must treat it with the utmost respect.

Doing a mini presentation in the elevator or having a chat in the hall way is not showing respect for your business.

You wouldn’t do that with your JOB nor should you do that with your home business which is your absolute best financial freedom option.
  6. Part Time Group

This group does all the right things and have a real opportunity to reach some if not all of their financial promises. Some of the part time group will go on to become “part time serious” or even “full time”. This group is not in a rush and are committed to most of the MLM success principles. There are two key weaknesses that part time group possesses that separates them from the top two most successful groups:

    1. They have not committed to become a trainer for their team and only rely on the company systems and the upline to provide all their team support.
    2. They have not built “LIKE & TRUST” with their key leaders mainly because they have not utilized their home to provide support or to spend much quality one on one time with their leaders.

If this is you, you are on the right track; stretch yourself a bit more by hosting weekly events in your home. Also make a habit of treating your leaders for a quick latte and other “LIKE & TRUST” building activities and you will reach your financial promises. “Objective is to shift as many SOMETIMERS to PART TIMERS as possible” Ramin Mesgarlou
  7. Part Time Serious Group

This is the select group that you always hear about, that “went from 0 – $10,000/month in 12 months “PART TIME”. These stories are true and every company has them, but let’s put the facts on the table. This special group maybe termed “part time” but they really have two full time commitments.

    1. First is their full time JOB or business that takes 40 + hours a week
    2. Second is their MLM business that also takes 25+ hours a week.

This special group is totally motivated to build their MLM business and replace their full time JOB or traditional business as soon as possible. They live, breathe, sleep their MLM Business and they are what we call E & E (excited and exhausted) until they reach their financial promises. It takes a great deal of commitment and drive to be able to keep on track for 12 to 18 months that it will take to achieve your financial and success promises. I am here to tell you that it’s not easy, but it is worth it and the vast majority of the part time serious group will end up full time within two years.

They work the business consistently and not in spurts, they use all the existing company tools, and if the company does not have sufficient support and training tools they will create them to support their team. Just like pro athletes on practice days, the serious part time group are never too busy or too tired, they show up as they are suppose to and get down to business day after day.

(The only exception to this is when leaders from other MLM companies switch and bring with them other qualified MLMers who fall into part time, part time serious or full time categories. In this case, the leader can succeed rapidly without investing the commitment and the efforts that it would normally be necessary. Lets not let these exceptions confuse you of what it takes for an average person to achieve similar results)
  8. Full Time Group

The FULL TIME group shares many similarities with the part time serious group. Most full time distributors started as part time or part time serious on their way to full time. However, there is one serious danger that full time distributors face which sometimes can lead to financial turmoil for many. The industry’s common teaching is to “work your MLM business on a part time basis until you replace your full time income (JOB, traditional business), then quit your full time income and build your MLM business full time”.

That sounds great and it is the objective of millions of MLMers. The danger here is that until the Forensic Networker program no one was providing these ambitious MLMers with a FULL TIME MLM business plan. The distributors are told to continue to work their part time business plan by simply doing more of the same. I have seen over and over again distributors who started part time and quickly replace their full time income with their company’s part time business plan and quit their jobs. When that happens the new found freedom will sidetrack their focus as they start to enjoy the fun things in their lives.

Some even fall into the “Some time distributor” category. When they finally decide to get back to work they become very confused because they don’t know what to do.

The reason for the confusion is that working your MLM from home full time is a totally different business than doing it part time. Part time members can get away with doing little since they have a full time income with their full JOB. Regardless of their income, the part timer feels good about any effort they put towards their business since it is over and above their full time job commitments. Their distributors also see them as “committed” within the platform of the part time distributor. The distributor’s work habits are created during this phase, but once the platform changes to full time, the lingering part time habits create confusion and frustration.

The routine plan no longer is a fit for them and a new comprehensive full time plan is required to sustain and increase the momentum of the

Ok so now the cat is out of the bag, you should have a good idea of what number you are and why.

Don’t be shy let’s continue the discussion, tell us exactly how you scored and why…..

If you want something go get it! Period!http://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/if-you-want-something-go-get-it-period http://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/if-you-want-something-go-get-it-period#comments Sat, 27 Nov 2010 14:38:05 +0000 Rob http://robertfranta.com/?p=1256

Don’t ever let some someone tell you you can’t do something!

This clip from The Pursuit Of Happiness is what today’s blog is all about.

In the video Chis Gardner (Will Smith) tells his son how he was never very good at basketball and because of that his son wouldn’t be any good. So he didn’t want him wasting a lot of time playing basketball.

We all have people in our lives who love and care about us. They tell us what to do and what not to do based on their own life and experiences, thoughts and beliefs.

They do this for many reasons, here are some of the top reasons:

  1. They don’t want to see us fail: This is a very noble reason, however this can only hold you back from your true potential. In order to find successful, failure along the way is a necessity. If you took the time to research any great success story you would find dozens if not hundreds of mini failures along their path to success. Only with failure can we learn what works and what does not. Only with failure can you grow to a better you. Lack of failure will simply result in lack of success.
  2. They don’t want to see us succeed: Yes it’s sad to admit there are people out there who actually don’t want you to succeed. They discourage you simply because they lack the desire, motivation and or dedication to pursue their dreams. If they can’t achieve their dreams they don’t you to achieve yours.
  3. They are lazy or scared of failure: It’s much easier for them to sit back and say that doesn’t work than it is to take the time to make it happen. By discouraging you they don’t have to do anything.
  4. They lack the proper knowledge to intelligently discuss the topic: I think this is one of the biggest reasons. People love to have the answers and love to help out. Unfortunately, they too often share what little knowledge they have on the topic and assume it to be “The Law”. When in fact it is incorrect.

IE: “Your uncle Jimmy tried that, he said it was a big old scam, run away!”

I love this one, just because Uncle Jimmy tried and failed that means that no one in the world can succeed. I’m sure Uncle Jimmy has never failed at anything, he is likely Jimmy Carter, Jimmy Hoffa, and Jim Morrison all rolled into one. I’m sure he has succeeded at everything in the world except Network Marketing.

Hopefully you can sense my subtle sarcasm here.

The important thing to realize is each person’s success or failure is determined by their own actions, desires and dedication. Just because Uncle Jimmy failed that has no bearing on your outcome unless you allow it to.
  5. They think it’s a scam: Here is a  line I hear often that I love.

“More people fail at MLM than succeed.”

Umm hello, McFly…. LOL, more people fail at everything than they succeed. We as a society fail at far more than we succeed.

Millions of people try to lose weight and fail. Is this because they failed or because the weight loss industry is a scam.

Do people fail in Network Marketing? The answer is of course yes.
Do people fail to be the CEO, Regional Manager, VP. ETC? Again yes.
Do people fail to, be a rock star, professional basketball player? Once again yes.

People fail in brick and mortar businesses every day an they have way more invested. Why isn’t this industry considered a scam? After all they hire employees who’s efforts they earn income from. Sounds like a pyramid scam to me. LOL again some subtle sarcasm there.

Here is what I know:
You and only you have the power to succeed or fail.
Confusious said “He who thinks he can and he who thinks he can’t are both usually right“.

So my advice to you is:
Don’t ever let someone tell you you can’t do something. If you want something go get it, PERIOD!

Thanksgiving, get back to the basics!http://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/thanksgiving-get-back-to-the-basics http://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/thanksgiving-get-back-to-the-basics#comments Wed, 24 Nov 2010 17:37:00 +0000 Rob http://robertfranta.com/?p=1244

Thanksgiving is an amazing holiday, few people really realize what it’s all about, even less actually take the time to think about all the good they have in their lives and why they should be thankful.

I encourage you to read this post in it’s entirety at the end I have a challenge for you.

Thanksgiving was actually created for one reason and further promoted for another reason.

The creation was to show appreciation, the initial Thanksgiving feast was celebrated in 1621. The Pilgrims shared it with the Native Americans because they had taught them how plant crops and hunt for wild game. This feast was how the Pilgrims showed their gratitude to the Native Americans for all of their help. Without the Native Americans the Pilgrims may not have survived the harsh winter.

The promotion of Thanksgiving is not as well know. Thanksgiving was officially declared a holiday by George Washington in 1789. By the mid 1800′s many states observed the holiday but not all on the same day. It wasn’t until 1863 when Abraham Lincoln, who was looking for ways to unite the country during the Civil War, gave his Thanksgiving Proclamation, declaring the last Thursday in November a day of Thanksgiving. President Lincoln knew that by doing this he could more easily unite the country. So the actual promotion of Thanksgiving was in fact to bring people closer together.

In the 1800′s this had great meaning and an actual purpose. In 2010 most holiday’s have become so commercialized we as a society have lost the true meaning behind them.

When was the last time on Thanksgiving you actually sat down and thought about all of the things you are thankful for.

Some will say last year other will answer never.

I have so many things to be thankful for in my life I could not possibly write about all of them with out boring you. I do want to share with you and give thanks for some of the most important things in my life.

  1. My loving wife and family: They mean everything to me and bring so much joy and happiness to me. I could not imagine my life without them.
  2. My Mother: Mom deserves a special shout out, she is always there for me, it doesn’t matter what time of day it is or what I need all I have to do is ask and it is done.
  3. Health: Not just my own personal health but family wide we are blessed. even though there are small health issues we are all living and breathing and enjoying life.
  4. Food and Shelter: So many people in the world lack these two simple necessities we as a society sometimes do not appreciate the simple things.
  5. Network Marketing: This one has changed me the most. Being in Network Marketing has really opened my eyes to new way of life. A way of life where people encourage greatness. Not only are they willing to teach and share every bit of knowledge they have but they actually care about you and want you to succeed. This kind of relationship does not exist in corporate business. Corporate business is cut throat teach them as little as they need to know so they don’t pass you up.
  6. Friends: Good friends are hard to come by, I am blessed to have 100′s business partners, who are my best friends and will continue to be for years to come. Good friends encourage you to be great they don’t bring you down or hold you back.

I’m going to cut it off right there but as mentioned I could go on and on and on.

Personally recognizing people and being thankful for them is only one part of the equation. Letting them know how you feel is most important.

Take some time and write down everything and everyone you are thankful for. Then go one step further and let them know.

I know this is going to sounds stupid, some of you will likely think I am insane and some of the younger readers won’t even know what I’m talking about.

Here is the challenge, take out a pen and a piece of paper and actually write them a letter. (If you are one of the younger readers who don’t know what a pen is paper is you can read about them at dictionary.com.) Now ever crazier yet I challenge you to send this letter through the actually mail. (again if you don’t know what this is check out dictionary.com)

Can you imagine how good that person will actually feel?
How would you feel if you received a letter of thanks in the actual mail.

We live in a fast passed society, with social media, email, cell phones, video phones, etc it is so simple to wish everyone a happy holiday in bulk and personal thought is tossed out the window. All sincerity is lost.

As if it wasn’t easy enough to text, email, tweet a Thank You, now we have even shorted Thank You! to Thanks, TKS, even TY. How impersonal are we going to get in the future?

Maybe they will just be a letter “t” or a head nod to relay a Thank You!

So do it, take some time this Thanksgiving and get back to basics, prove to people they really make a difference in your life.

If you enjoyed this post please share it, so others can embrace the true meaning of Thanksgiving. It only takes a second to retweet, status update, bookmark. Heck print it out and toss a copy in the letter you write…

I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving, and remember if you are reading this you have it 100 times better than millions of people in the world.

A lesson from my 11 year old daughter!http://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/a-lesson-from-my-11-year-old-daughter http://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/a-lesson-from-my-11-year-old-daughter#comments Sat, 13 Nov 2010 14:18:25 +0000 Rob http://robertfranta.com/?p=1235

I received a text message from my daughter the other day. She was telling me about some issues she was having and how bad she was feeling about them. At the end of the message were the following words.

“tough times nvr last tough ppl do.”

As an 11 year old girl growing up in our messed up society sometimes I think they may have it worse than we ever did. There is so much pressure to fit in, and children her age can be very mean. This is no different than what we had to deal with growing up. However, add social media and small issues between two people become massive conversations between the entire school.

Naturally as a father I feel bad she has to deal with these issues and wish I could just make them go away.

As a success coach and mentor I was so proud to hear those words.

This is not something I ever told her, I’m not really sure where those exact words came from. The important thing is that she understood life is not always going to be easy and she needed to be tough to make it.

So this lesson comes from my 11 year old daughter.

In our industry there will likely be more tough times than good times, there will be plenty of setbacks, especially in the beginning stages. This is where the weak will give up and settle for a life of mediocrity. The tough will stick it out and realize “This too shall pass“. Remember nothing good is easy and nothing easy is good.

The ability to make it through the tough times is the key to success. One thing most people don’t understand is you can’t fail if you don’t quit. Yes somethings won’t happen as you plan, yes there will be setbacks. This in not failure, these are only stepping stones which we must use to educate ourselves.

When times get tough or things don’t go our way, we need to do 4 things.

  1. Analyze what’s happening
  2. Identify the problem
  3. Create a solution
  4. Take actions to change the outcome

It really is that simple.

Most people never make it to step one. They simply say this doesn’t work and they give up.

Success is only 10% what happens and 90% how we react to what happens.

If you put 100 people in the same situation and studied the outcome of each person, you will likely find 100 different results. So you can see our success is completely controlled by our own actions and how we handle each situation.

I recently gave a training on “How to Improve Yourself” this video training provides life lessons we need to embrace and changes we need to make in our lives in order to be successful.

“Take responsibility for your actions and the results they produce”

I read once that insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results.

If you are not where you want to be, you can change that by changing your actions.

I hope you get something amazing from this blog, if you found value in in it please share it.

Here’s to your success

The Law of: “What Do You Want More”?http://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/the-law-of-what-do-you-want-more http://robertfranta.com/personal-development-2/the-law-of-what-do-you-want-more#comments Thu, 21 Oct 2010 17:47:09 +0000 Rob http://robertfranta.com/?p=1199

I am sorry to say I don’t remember exactly where I fist was introduced to this principle, but it has changed my life.

This principle can be applied to every aspect of your life and every day to day actions we take or choices we make. Basically this is “Free Will”, we as humans have “Free Will” to do what ever we want to do, all we have to do is deal with the outcome of our actions.

Here are a few examples of  “What do you want more”:

Do you want to be on time to work or get that extra 10 minutes of sleep?
Do you want to loose weight or eat that cupcake?
Do you want to rob a bank or stay out of jail?
Do you want to cheat on your spouse or stay married.
Do you want to exercise and be fit  or sit on the couch and eat Bon Bons?

I’m sure by now you see where I am going with this.

Newton’s Third Law of Motion states:
“For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”

While he was referring to physics and not life choices, I found this law of motion to almost perfectly be present in everyone of our life choices.

The successful professional sports player gave up most of his life to excel in his or her sport. The successful Attorney or Doctor gave up 6 to 10 years of their lives to learn and excel at their trade. The successful singer or dancer practiced countless hours for years in order to reach her skill level.

So what can be learned form this?

It takes hard work, dedication, education, and most of all SACRIFICE to achieve great success. Furthermore it is impossible to succeed if you quit. How many professional basket players do you know who quit before they became pro. The answer is none, it would be impossible to be a pro ball player if they quit before they went pro. This is true for anything.

If this is true of every business, trade, profession, etc, why is it so many people expect to start a home based business, MLM, Network Marketing Company, Opportunity or whatever you want to call it, and expect success to come instantly. It just doesn’t make sense.

Successful people are successful because they are willing to do what most people are not willing to do. They are willing to step outside of their comfort zone and do what it takes to obtain the results they are looking for. They are not concerned with what other people think of them nor are they looking for approval. They put their head down and get to work.

Most of our decisions on a daily basis are actually made unconsciously. Very seldom will we think about our different choices and the end result from each choice. This is why most people never reach their goals and settle for lives of mediocrity

I challenge you to implement the “What Do You Want More” principle in your day to day choices.

Every time you are ready to make a decision think about your choices and the outcome of each choice before you make a decision. Think about any goals you have set, does this decision move you closer towards that goal or further away from that goal. You will be amazed at how many choices you will change simply because you thought about each outcome. If you don’t have any goals set, make some.

Remember this can be applied to every aspect of your day. From your morning routine to bedtime. IE:  doughnut stop, lunch choices, cigarette break, exercise, road rage, speeding, opening a door for someone, saying hi to someone you pass in the hallway, a simple smile, is all it takes to makes a difference.

I’ll leave you with this final thought.

What do you want more? Do you want your business to be a raging success or would you rather relax and watch TV every night?

Sorry I had to go there, some people needed it.

Here’s to your success
